The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, on Wednesday received the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Dr. Emomotimi Agama, and members of his management team on a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja, with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to deeper inter-agency collaboration.
In a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the visit provided an avenue for discussions aimed at strengthening national security, economic stability, and investor confidence in Nigeria’s financial system through enhanced cooperation between the Police and the capital market regulator.

Speaking during the meeting, the SEC Director-General commended the Nigeria Police Force for its sustained efforts in maintaining law and order nationwide, as well as its consistent support to the Commission in the discharge of its regulatory and enforcement responsibilities. He particularly acknowledged the professionalism and responsiveness of the Force in addressing capital market infractions and other financial crimes.
Dr. Agama expressed the Commission’s desire to deepen collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, especially through stronger engagement with the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), noting the Centre’s proven operational capacity in tackling cyber-enabled financial crimes. He stressed that closer synergy would further enhance regulatory enforcement, intelligence sharing, and capacity building to effectively address emerging threats within the capital market ecosystem.

In his response, the Inspector-General of Police welcomed the SEC delegation and appreciated the confidence reposed in the Nigeria Police Force. He reaffirmed the Force’s unwavering commitment to inter-agency cooperation and assured the Commission of continued support in both ongoing engagements and future partnerships.
The IGP noted that modern and effective policing thrives on strong institutional collaboration and emphasized that specialized units of the Force, including the NPF-NCCC, would continue to work closely with the SEC to safeguard Nigeria’s financial and economic interests.
