Governor Okezie Ikpeazu was part of the Flag off of the National Young Farmers Scheme under the National Agricultural Lands Development Agency ((NALDA) by President Muhammadu Buhari today at the Presidential Villa.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Jigawa Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Kebbi Governor Atiku Bagudu, Yobe Governor Mai Mala Buni, House Leader Alhassan Doguwa, Executive Secretary/CEO NALDA Prince Paul Ikonne and Denmark Ambassador to Nigeria, Amb. Jesper Kamp were all part of the event.
The high point of the event for the people of Abia State was the Presidential approval given to the collaborative efforts by NALDA and the State Government for the reactivation of the Ogwe Golden Chicken in Ukwa West LGA. Under this, the Federal Government through NALDA will jointly fund the resuscitation of the Ogwe Golden Chicken with the State Government. The farm, at full capacity, can take care of 70% of the poultry needs of the entire South East region.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has been in the forefront of the campaign to revive the Ogwe Golden Chicken farm. He has spoken to different investors on the issue. The appointment of Prince Paul Ikonne as the Executive Secretary of NALDA by President Muhammadu Buhari has given great motivation to this. A lot of work has been done by the State Government and NALDA leading up to this Presidential approval.
Governor Ikpeazu is grateful to the President for this very fundamental move which will not only bring back to life, one of the largest agricultural projects in the South East but also, one with a huge capacity for job creation and value addition.
