As Nigeria marks its 61st Independence Anniversary on Friday, October 1, 2021, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has restricted vehicular movement around Eagle Square where the parade is expected to hold.
The Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, DSP Adeh Josephine said in a statement in Abuja on Thursday that in view of the 61st Independence Anniversary Celebration, the Command has emplaced proactive security measures to ensure a hitch-free celebration.
According to her, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Sunday Babaji has put up measures to include the restriction of vehicular movements on roads leading to Eagle Square where the Independence Anniversary parade and other adjoining programmes would hold.
To achieve a seamless exercise, the police is doing that in collaboration with other security agencies as there will be intensive confidence-boosting patrols, coordinated stop/search operations, and other intelligence-based crime-fighting efforts around other places of public resorts such as recreational parks, residential areas, major highways, amongst others. This is to prevent any untoward situation throughout the period of the celebrations and beyond.
