The need to ensure that the construction of the access road to the permanent site of the Special Operations Command (SOC), is completed necessitated the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Special Operations Command, Rear Admiral OO Soyemi, to visit the Director General (DG) of the Bureau for Special Projects and Infrastructure, Benue State, Engr. Prof. Gabriel Akpen, at the Government House, Makurdi.
Before the visit that took place on Wednesday, 9th July, 2025, it was learnt that the Nigerian Navy (NN) had already commenced infrastructural development there but needed prompt attention for its completion.
Recall that during the visit of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, to the permanent site in May 2025, the Executive Governor of Benue State, Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, pledged to provide an access road to the NN SOC permanent site.

The DG informed the FOC SOC that all preparatory works and designs for the access road had been concluded and were awaiting the Governor’s approval for commencement.
He further stated that the project is expected to be completed within three months. Additionally, the DG assured that compacting and consolidation of the access way would commence immediately to facilitate the smooth movement of materials to the site ahead of full-scale construction.
