The Journalists International Forum for Migration (JIFORM) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of one of its members, Mr. David Adekunle of the Voice of Nigeria, describing his death as a profound loss to the organisation.

According to a family source, the late journalist, who passed away peacefully at his residence in Lagos on January 4, will be laid to rest in his hometown of Abeokuta on Tuesday, January 13.

In a statement issued in London on Saturday, the President of the migration journalists’ body, Mr. Abayomi Ajibola, paid glowing tribute to the deceased, describing him as an enthusiastic, dedicated, and highly supportive media professional.

Praying for the repose of the soul of the late Adekunle, the JIFORM President stated:
“He was one of our founding members who demonstrated deep interest and unwavering commitment to our activities during the formative stage of the organisation in 2019. His passion for professional journalism and migration advocacy remained exemplary.”

Mr. Ajibola added that JIFORM would stand firmly by the bereaved family during this difficult period.

“We are committed, alongside other associates, to compassionately supporting his widow and their two children to help ease the burden of the realities ahead. We owe him that respect and honour.”

JIFORM further prayed that the Almighty grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and that the soul of the departed find eternal peace with his Creator.

The Journalists International Forum for Migration (JIFORM) is a voluntary and non-profit global network of journalists, editors, media practitioners, and migration advocates committed to promoting accurate, ethical, and development-focused reporting on migration, diaspora engagement, human mobility, and social integration.

Headquartered in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, with members across Africa, Europe, and North America, JIFORM works to strengthen media capacity, foster cross-border collaboration, and advance informed public discourse on migration-related issues.
