A bus driver that plies Ajah-Sangotedo expressway lived up to its billings as he returned a laptop a woman left in his bus on Sunday night.
The driver fondly called Mr. Righteous or Engineer by close associates and other drivers at the park hail from Imo State and is in his late sixties.
The unnamed man who narrated what transpired on the WhatsApp platform said the wife had boarded the driver’s bus yesterday night at about 7 pm and sat in the front seat while carrying her company’s laptop which contained vital contents and information.
Apparently fatigued, she was said to have dropped the laptop beside her seat during the journey that was less than four kilometres.
Unfortunately, when she disembarked, she forgot to carry the computer. Distraught by the development, the narrator took the wife in his car and drove briskly in a bid to locate the driver’s whereabouts since “he had told my wife that that was his last trip and he lives around Sangotedo’s ShopRite.”
“We got to the United Estate at Sangotedo, but the man could not be found. With unfriendly traffic gridlock, we rushed to Ajah’s bus stop with the hope that he would return the laptop if he sees it. Yet, to no avail.
“The entire time, my wife was understandably distraught. Praying, wailing and crying at the same time. She did so in a profuse scale wondering what she was going to tell her company,” he further explained.
“As early as 7 am this morning, 10th October 2022, we left for the bus station and waited for about two hours.
“About 8 o’clock, the entire car park erupted in wild jubilation as Papa emerged with the laptop. On sighting the driver, my wife broke down in tears of joy as we roundly gave the man an appreciative hug thanking him for his utmost sincerity.
Reflecting on the scenario, the man further explained, “As for the driver, he did not see his kindest act as anything important. He believes it is normal to return things that are not yours.”
He went further to say, “I was very worried about my wife’s emotional state having realized that the laptop belongs to her company, hence we make sure we came to the station earlier than usual.
“After he handed over the laptop, I gave him some money as a token of our appreciation, but Papa refused to take it. Please, pray for this man because he has saved my household from trouble.
“With this demonstration, he has proven, once again, that God answers prayers and that Nigeria is full of Good Samaritans. Have confidence in Nigeria and Nigerians, because there are so many good people in this beautiful land of ours despite all odds.
He added the Righteous man is “a man of integrity, pillared by conscience and roundly revered in the park.”
