The Lagos State Parents’ Forum, Ifako – Ijaye and Ojokoro Zone holds its inaugural seminar, with the title education devoid of violence, today, Wednesday, October 27, 2021.
The Zonal Chairman of the Lagos Parents’ Forum, Ifako – Ijaye and Ojokoro Zone, Mr. Ganiu Olatunbosun Akanbi and the executives of the forum expressed the urgent need to find lasting solutions to violence in our schools, from the basic, secondary and tertiary education.
According to the Chairman, the seminar is amongst other things aimed at proffering solutions or recommendations that can be used to eradicate all forms of school violence, such as physical, sexual, psychological or involving deprivation or neglect, in our schools, etc.
The event also featured paper presentations, in line with the theme of the seminar, from invited personalities, such as Dr. Adeolu Oyekan from the department of Philosophy, Lagos State University, Assistant Superintendent of Corps I (ASCI) Abolurin Oluwaseun Olumide, who represented Commandant Eweka Okoro, the Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command amongst others.
The seminar was well attended by government functionaries in the education ministry, school principals, teachers, parents, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command and other relevant stakeholders in the state.
Also present at the seminar are Mrs. Eko Maria (PhD), Hon. Adeyemo Abiodun Aliyu, Parents’ Forum state chairman, Mrs. Bankole Betty Funmi (Principal), Dr. Adeolu Oyekan, Comrade Dolapo Alebiosu (NUT), Mrs. Bello Iyabo (Deputy Director Education District I), Chief Imam Ali Ismail Olayemi, Chief Imam Akewushola Isiaka; and the executives of the Lagos Parents’ Forum which include, Mr. Ganiyu Olatunbosun Akanbi (Chairman), Mr. Suarau Moruf (Vice-Chairman), Mr. Sunday Okebowale (Secretary), Mrs. Abel Abosede Balogun (Secretary II), Oloyamodun Opemipo (Financial Secretary) and Mr. Yinka Odufolurin (Treasurer).
