LAGOS PLEDGES FULL SUPPORT AS NIGERIA PREPARES TO HOST GITEX 2025

LAGOS PLEDGES FULL SUPPORT AS NIGERIA

As Nigeria readies to welcome the global technology community at GITEX Nigeria 2025, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to secure the state’s partnership for the landmark event.

Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed delight at NITDA’s bold step in bringing the world’s largest technology fair to Nigeria and pledged Lagos State Government’s full support to ensure the event’s success.

“I am excited that Nigeria’s tech ecosystem will be on display before the world. Lagos is fully committed to working with NITDA and the Federal Government to make GITEX Nigeria a memorable and impactful event,” the Governor said.

The move follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on May 30, 2024, during GITEX Africa in Marrakesh, Morocco, between NITDA and KAOUN International, organisers of GITEX Global, GITEX Africa, and GITEX Europe. The agreement marked the first time GITEX would be hosted in Nigeria.

Bringing GITEX to Nigeria aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to reform the economy, drive diversification, foster new industries, and promote innovation through digital transformation.

GITEX Nigeria is scheduled to hold in Abuja and Lagos from September 1–4, 2025, and is expected to attract global investors, innovators, and technology leaders to explore opportunities in Nigeria’s rapidly growing digital economy.
