The Lagos State Police Command has recorded a breakthrough in its fight against violent crimes, with the arrest of a notorious armed robbery and car-snatching syndicate that has terrorized motorists across Lagos and neighboring states.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, detectives from its Tactical Squads apprehended four suspected armed robbers during coordinated, intelligence-led operations between October 15 and 17, 2025. The suspects were arrested at their hideout in Igando, Lagos State, following weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering.
Those arrested include Taiwo Alabi (42), Ogedengbe Lowis (46), Ighodalo Enato Francis (37), and Osaro Eghe Abiodun (34) — all of whom have reportedly confessed to multiple armed robbery and car-snatching operations in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, and Edo States.

Police investigations revealed that the gang’s modus operandi involved posing as passengers in commercial vehicles before attacking unsuspecting drivers and robbing them of their vehicles at gunpoint.
Recovered exhibits from the suspects include one automatic pump-action shotgun, one Beretta pistol, 48 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 46 live cartridges, one cutlass, assorted charms, one Toyota Sienna, two Lexus ES350 cars, and one Toyota Corolla.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the operatives for their precision and professionalism, assuring residents that the Command remains unwavering in its commitment to rid the state of criminal networks.
“Our operatives will continue to pursue all members of this gang still at large. The safety and security of Lagosians remain our top priority,” the CP stated.
Investigations are ongoing, while efforts to apprehend additional members of the syndicate continue.
