It was like a carnival at the Lekki Atlantic Garden Residents Association (LAGRA) Secretariat, located at Road 1 on Saturday evening as residents converged and sang praises, adored, and glorified God for his mercies over their lives, and to have withered the storms and stresses of life.
As part of the event, which is the first in the history of the estate, there was a medical outreach as residents had free medical consultations, tests and free drugs dispensed to over 120 residents consisting of both the young and old in the estate.
With sonorous gospel hymns and songs laced with athletic dancing steps by the youth choir and the congregation, sets the stage for a night of unforgettable, beautifully rendered songs that got everybody hitting the ground dancing and praising God for the preservation of life despite all the challenges confronting every family coupled with the unfriendly economic crunch occasioned by Covid-19 pandemic.
With different churches within the estate and Pastors gracing the ‘Praise Jam’, each took his/her turn to lead a praise session, thanking God for his mercies, guidance and protection over their lives, loved ones, neighbours and land coupled with other human challenges especially possessing their possession, Alabeko.
While rendering prayers for peace in the land, the Chairman, LAGRA, Pastor Fisayo Sogbola prayed that the peace of God will reign over the land; decreeing on the land peace and progress, accelerated business growth, no loss in businesses and human capacity and capability or death adding that every resident in the land would make it and the love of God would dominate.
Other ministers who took turns to appreciate God were Pastor Oluwaseun of the Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministry (MFM); Pastor Patrick Dele of Redeemed Christian Church of God (Breakthrough Parish); Pastor Rotimi Ojo of Redeemed Christian Church of God (Mercy land); Pastor Esther Jimoh and Pastor Philip Jacob of Four Square Bible Church. Other churches represented included Soughtout Family Church, Cherubim and Seraphim among others.
On why the concept of “Praise Jam” was organised, Pastor Fisayo explained, “We have a great task ahead of us in the area of Development Plan Project (DPP), and other sundry matters affecting the estate. It’s only God that can make us achieve such a task hence we have over Alabeko to God.
“No doubt, we need to put God first in everything we do in our estate because he has been the only one that has kept us here and will continue to keep and sustain us.”
Besides that, he emphasized, “As an estate living under the symphony of brotherhood, we need to work in unity of purpose; and give back to the community as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
“What we need to do is began to harness resources to kick start the Development Plan Project. With the robust support from the residents and God on our side, it will be a seamless project, Pastor Fisayo reiterated.
However, for the Muslims faithful, it was coordinated by Alhaji Kawu Ali during the Jumat Service on Friday who also thanked God for his overwhelming support and assistance.
Responding, one of the residents, Pastor Rotimi Ojo, thanked God for the initiative and success of the beautifully orchestrated event but wished that it could be made an annual event that would cement the love and unity among residents, which would, by extension, a confirmation of God’s investment in the affairs of LAGRA.
While appreciating God for his divine presence and protection during the event that started about 2 pm till 8 pm, Chairman Lekki Atlantic Garden Estate, Pastor Fisayo Sogbola thanked the Almighty God for the success of the “Praise Jam”.
He also applauded the Committee who work tirelessly to ensure everything was in place and went well.
To all the churches that sent representatives and the Pastors that attended physically, the medical team, the choir, the instrumentalists, the ushers, security guards, and all the residents who turned up and those who could not make it for one reason or the other, he expressed his profound appreciation and hoped that this Praise Jam will translate into an annual event and Christmas Carol in the Estate.
