It was like a celebration of life and meritorious service to fatherland as the late Assistant Inspector-General of Police, in charge of Police Armament, Force Headquarters Abuja, AIG Omololu Bishi was buried Tuesday at Ebony Vaults, Ikoyi, Lagos, amidst tears, funfair and honour.
The AIG Zone 2, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu led senior officers in Lagos to represent the Inspector-General of Police to accord the late officer a befitting burial parade.
The late officer died after a brief illness at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, on Monday, January 11, 2021. He hails from Lagos Island, Lagos State having been enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force in 1988 as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.
In his tribute, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, described the late AIG as “humble, responsible and dedicated to duty.”
He also sympathised with the family, Oba of Lagos and chiefs and friends on his demise and prayed that God would grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
On his part, the AIG Zone 2, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu, expressed shock on the sudden death of AIG Omololu Bishi, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.
He was accompanied to the burial arena by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, AIG Police Cooperative, AIG Aminu Saleh Pai, Area Commanders and Commanding Officers, Police Mobile Force in Lagos and senior officers from police formations within Lagos State.
The brief burial rite was witnessed by his immediate family members, representatives of the Oba of Lagos, his course mates in Police Academy, friends and well-wishers. The late AIG Bishi is survived by wife and kids.
