An unknown lone driver was killed this morning by yet-to-be-identified persons at the General Paint bus stop, along Sangotedo-Epe Expressway, Ajah -Lagos.
The incident was said to have happened between 1:30 am to 2 am when a security patrol around that axis sighted two guys jump out of the vehicle carrying a bag and run into “Bowler,” a notorious slum peopled by street urchins and individuals of questionable disposition.
It was learnt that the driver, before being hacked to death, drove a Green Toyota Camry car with plate number: Lagos BDG 387 HU.
It was gathered that the victim was stabbed in his neck while still strapped to his seatbelt.
The driver, it was further gathered, was an Uber driver before he was stabbed to death inside his car by the assailants, who, ostensibly, wanted to dispossess him of his car.
When our correspondent visited the scene of the incident, men of the Nigeria Police Force from the Ajiwe Police Station were yet to arrive at the scene even though they were informed early in the morning.
However, it was learnt that the car stereo was removed while the victim’s phone was intact, suggesting that the sighting of the patrol men around the estate by the assailants might have scared them away from accomplishing their devious act.
The only thing observed besides the lifeless body which was drenched in his blood, were two innocent Aqua bottled water.
“Bowler,” an unoccupied notorious place by the General Paint bus stop is known for pockets of robberies and sundry attacks, which, usually happen during the early hours of the day or late at night.
A passerby disclosed that General Paint bus stop is notorious for insipid attacks by criminals who inhabit inside the vast Bowler, which has led to several persons dispatched to their early graves while countless others have had their laptops, phones, money, and other valuables forcefully removed from them.
“I don’t know why the Lagos State government would leave this kind of place fallow amid several dwelling Estates thereby endangering the lives of the people within these environs.
“In the last three years, close to 20 people have been killed within this axis,” an angry woman intoned anonymously.
“Bowlers,” with thousands of illegal occupants are predominantly people of low status, who live in shanties. It is alleged that they are criminally-minded individuals, thugs, and peopled by street urchins.
When the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin was contacted to comment on the findings of the command during the evacuation, he didn’t respond to calls.
Also, WhatsApp messages sent to him were also not responded to as at press time.
However, the remains of the victim and the car were eventually evacuated by the police from Ajiwe Divisional Police Station, Ajah.
