
The Commandant, Nigerian Navy Logistics College, Kano, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Anakwe, has encouraged the participating soldiers in the 1 Division Nigerian Army Corporals and below to maintain unwavering determination, self-discipline and sportsman’s spirit throughout the Division’s Corporals and Below Inter-Brigade competition in order to fully maximise the benefits of various activities lined-up for the event.
In his keynote address to the participants of the Division’s Corporals and Below Inter-Brigade competition, at Bukavu Barracks, Kano, on Monday, April 7, 2025, he enjoined them to leverage on the significance of the Competition, in light of the prevailing security challenges facing the nation.
Declaring the competition opened, the General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Operation, FASAN YAMMA, Major General Lander Saraso, who was represented by the Division Training Officer, Brigadier General AH Gwani, stated that “the Corporal and Below Competition, is an annual event organized with the primary objective of improving junior leadership combat proficiency and inculcating good traits into the Non-commissioned officers of the rank of corporals and below.”

Major General Saraso reiterated that the competition is part of the deliberate efforts designed to enhance efficient training in the Nigerian Army, in line with the COAS’ Command philosophy.
A total of 150 soldiers from 3 Brigade, 31 Artilley Brigade and 1 Division Garrison are participating in the five event exercises. These activities include Drill, Obstacle Crossing, Skill at Arms/Combat Shooting, Map Reading, Endurance race and Combat Swimming.
According to Captain Babatunde Zubairu, 3 Brigade Assistant Director Army Public Relations said that the 5-day sports event is expected to be rounded off on Friday, 11th April, 2025.
