His Royal Majesty, Prof. Bulus Luka Gadiga, the Mbege Ka Michika of Adamawa State, has commended the exemplary leadership and national impact of the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), while pledging his kingdom’s full support in the fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking.

The monarch gave the commendation on Monday, November 10, 2025, when he led members of his traditional council on a courtesy visit to the NDLEA headquarters in Abuja.

Prof. Gadiga, who described Marwa as a source of pride to the Michika Kingdom, lauded his outstanding contributions to national development and community advancement through infrastructure projects, scholarship schemes, and youth empowerment initiatives.

“We’re here to appreciate all the support you have given us and to express our support for the agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to eradicate illicit drugs, which you have been pursuing very effectively,” the monarch stated.

“Your efforts are visible for all to see, and we’re grateful to God for the leadership qualities He has bestowed on you, making you a household name not only in our kingdom but across Nigeria.”

He further pledged the readiness of Michika Kingdom to strengthen its partnership with the NDLEA through community sensitization, awareness campaigns, and enforcement support. The monarch revealed that letters had already been sent to churches and mosques within his domain, emphasizing a zero-tolerance stance against drug abuse and trafficking.

In his remarks, Gen. Marwa congratulated the monarch on his ascension to the revered throne and expressed appreciation for his longstanding support to the NDLEA’s Michika Command.

He emphasized that the drug menace is a national challenge that requires a collective response from all sectors of society.

“We appreciate the support that Your Majesty has rendered and continues to render to the NDLEA in various ways, especially in logistics. We hope other royal fathers will emulate this,” Marwa said.

“The fight against drugs is not for NDLEA alone—it is a whole-of-society effort involving traditional institutions, religious leaders, communities, and families. We urge Your Majesty to set up a drug control committee within your domain to maintain day-to-day collaboration with us.”

The NDLEA boss also appealed to Nigerian youths to shun drug abuse, warning of its devastating impact on health, families, and communities.

Other members of the Michika monarch’s delegation included Gen. Bitrus Kangye (Rtd), Ambassador Ibrahim Mohammed Bashir, Dr. John Quaghe, and Halima Buba.
