The Armed Forces of Nigeria have recorded major operational successes across multiple theatres of operation in the past week, neutralising terrorists, rescuing kidnapped victims, and foiling illegal oil theft worth over ₦98 million, according to the Defence Headquarters.
Speaking during the weekly press briefing in Abuja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, commended the professionalism and resilience of troops operating across the country, noting that their sustained offensive actions continue to degrade criminal networks and restore peace in affected areas.
“Our recent operational successes — whether in counterterrorism, anti-banditry, maritime security, or joint internal operations — are not just victories on the battlefield but clear demonstrations of our resolve to secure every inch of our nation,” he stated.
North East Operations
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai maintained pressure on Boko Haram, ISWAP, and JAS terrorists across Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States. Between 8 and 16 October 2025, several terrorists were neutralised, 16 collaborators arrested, and 7 kidnapped victims rescued. Troops also recovered assorted weapons, vehicles, fuel, and ₦5.14 million in cash while dismantling terrorist camps in Konduga, Monguno, Gubio, Kaga, and other areas.
North West Operations
In Operation Fansaŋ Yamma, troops conducted raids across Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Kaduna, and Niger States, neutralising several terrorists, arresting 14 suspects, and rescuing 6 kidnapped victims. Recovered items included weapons, vehicles, livestock, and illicit substances.
Additionally, one suspected gunrunner and two drug traffickers were apprehended in Kaduna and Zamfara States, with 1,307 rounds of live ammunition, narcotics, and ₦227,000 recovered.
North Central Operations
Under Operation Enduring Peace, troops responded to multiple distress calls in Plateau and Kaduna States, killing several extremists and arresting 11 suspects. Weapons, vehicles, and motorcycles were recovered. Four suspects charged with conspiracy and theft were also convicted and sentenced in Plateau State.
Similarly, in Operation Whirl Stroke, troops neutralised criminals in Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa, Kogi States, and the FCT. Twelve suspects were arrested, 17 kidnapped victims rescued, and weapons and vehicles recovered.
South-South Operations
In the Niger Delta, Operation Delta Safe troops foiled illegal oil bunkering and refining activities valued at over ₦98.7 million. They recovered 92,500 litres of stolen crude oil and other petroleum products, dismantled 11 refining ovens and 7 illegal refining sites, and arrested 13 suspects. Additional operations in Delta and Rivers States led to the arrest of 9 more criminals and the recovery of arms, ammunition, and a vehicle.
South-East Operations
Troops of Operation Udo Ka sustained raids on criminal hideouts in Imo, Ebonyi, and Abia States. A wanted IPOB/ESN commander known as “Gentle” and eight other suspects were arrested, with weapons and a vehicle recovered. A female logistics supplier linked to the group was also arrested in Abia State, where three children of a wanted terrorist leader were rescued from her custody.
Renewed Commitment
Maj. Gen. Kangye praised the troops’ bravery and sacrifice, acknowledging those who paid the ultimate price. He reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity and maintaining peace nationwide.
“These achievements are the result of coordinated efforts, intelligence-driven strategies, and the continued support of patriotic Nigerians,” he said. “The Armed Forces remain committed, resilient, and ever-ready to uphold our constitutional mandate.”
