MINISTER ORDERS DEMOLITION OF ILLEGAL STRUCTURES IN FCT

Admin October 23, 2024
WIKE ORDERS DEMOLITION OF ILLEGAL (1)

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has ordered the immediate demolition of illegal structures at the Sabon Lugbe South District Layout in the FCT.

The FCT Minister gave the order in Abuja on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, when he paid an unscheduled visit to the site of the illegal structures at Sabon Lugbe in the company of the Heads of the various Security Agencies in the FCT.

Barr. Wike reiterated that buildings without proper documents from the FCT Administration will be demolished, describing the developers as land grabbers. He said the structures were built without the approval of the Development Control Department, in contravention of the land use provision of the FCT.

“You can see they are all land grabbers without documents and we are not going to allow that”.

The Minister thus directed the Director, Department of Development Control, Town Planner Mukhtar Galadima to liaise with the various security agencies in the demolition of the illegal structures and recovery of the land, adding that the security personnel will arrest anyone who obstructs the demolition exercise. This was contained in a statement by the Assistant Director, Press (Office of the Honourable Minister), Rabi Musa Umar.
