For having the boldness to have executed a concocted plan to set his ex-Lover’s house ablaze with his girlfriend inside, the Lagos State Police has arrested the suspect, Jemila Ibrahim, 19, and her accomplices, Fatima Mohammed, 21.
The girl (suspect), the ex-lover, Mohammed Yusuf, and the girlfriend, Rabi, were said to have been living at Monkey Village, Festac Area, Lagos, where the house was set ablazed. The incident took place on the 18th November, 2020 at 5.30pm.
Disclosing the arrest of the girls, the Lagos State Police Spokesperson, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said Mohammed Yusuf, an ex-lover to Jemila, had the hint of the incident and rushed to the house where he met his house on flame but managed to rescue Rabi, his new lover, from the inferno and took her to the hospital where she later died on November 21, 2020, about 12pm.
Mohammed had allegedly accused his former lover, Jemila Ibrahim, of infidelity before they broke up; while he later met and fell in love with his new lover, late Rabi, that was caught up in the inferno.
The duo of Jemila Ibrahim, and her friend, Fatima Mohammed, who accompanied Jemila to commit the heinous crime, were arrested by the police operatives attacked to Satellite Division of the command.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, who condemned the criminal act, has ordered that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for discreet investigation.
Odumosu, however, vowed to go after those who engage in all manner of crimes and other social vices with a view to getting Lagos State rid of criminals and criminality.
Meanwhile, the police boss has encouraged Lagosians to shun taking laws into their hands; noting that jungle justice will only truncate the administration of justice and such could be counterproductive.
