…a new initiative to support young people
…20 individuals will leave with funds and training totaling N68 million to advance their hustles.
MTN Nigeria has formally launched a new campaign dubbed MTN Pulse “Blow My Hustle” as part of its mission to promote young, and enterprising Nigerians.
In the past, the mobile operator (MTN Foundation) launched various initiatives to assist Nigerians, but the “Blow My Hustle” campaign intends to choose 100 small enterprises already in operation and new ventures that would receive mentoring and training. Only 20 companies will be eligible for the prize, though.
MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, in a press conference on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, announced the introduction of the MTN Pulse Blow My Hustle project. The Blow My Hustle campaign aims to provide funds and capacity building to young Nigerians to enable them to start profitable companies.
According to a 2021 analysis by the Fate Institute, about 67 percent of Nigerian entrepreneurs are young adults between the ages of 18 and 35.
The survey revealed that Nigeria’s entrepreneurial sector is expanding quickly and cites a lack of funding opportunities as a source of dissatisfaction for business owners. Through its MTN Pulse Blow My Hustle campaign, MTN Nigeria aims to close this gap.
Speaking at the conference, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Nigeria, Adia Sowho, noted that the “hustle spirit” of young people in Nigeria is extremely inspirational since they are creative and enterprising.
According to her, MTN is here to encourage those who “hustle” in order to realize their dreams. With MTN Pulse Blow My Hustle, we will offer business knowledge from authorities in related industries and open access to financial assistance in response to what young business owners have informed us they need.
“We anticipate that this approach will lead to a transformation.
“For 100 young Nigerians looking to establish a business or grow an existing one, MTN will offer funding and training.
“The shortlisted candidates will get the chance to take part in two weeks of rigorous virtual training from business experts and leaders covering topics including wealth and investment management, personal growth, digital marketing, website building, and elevator pitches, among others.
“Young Nigerians who are MTN subscribers and are between the ages of 16 and 30 can enter the MTN Pulse Blow My Hustle by submitting a video pitch on the specific MTN Pulse website outlining their “hustle” and how a financial award will help the firm grow.
“The 20 finalists from among the 100 shortlisted companies will get awards totaling up to N10 million during the course of the two weeks of training.
“It will be given out based on the pitching qualities that a panel of judges judged at the grand finals event.
“The panelists drawn from various business sectors are Tricia Olufemi-Olumide (also known as Triciabiz), Oluwatosin Ajibade (also known as Mr. Eazi), Chukwuma Monye, a social innovator and entrepreneur, and Olumide Soyombo, the co-founder of Bluechip Technologies.
