A commercial motorcycle rider popularly called Okada identified as Mr Yusuf Ogunmefun has stabbed to death his passenger over a disputed N100 at Igbeyiadun Street, AIT Road, Alagbado- Lagos State.
The victim, Mr Balogun Adeyemi Musa also known as Baba Rokiba was a popular welder (iron bender ) in the neighbourhood, but met his death in the early hour of today, 2nd November 2022.
Musa’s neighbour who claimed anonymity explained the circumstances that led to the victim’s death. He revealed that an argument had arisen over the fare as the Musa was said to have refused to pay N100 difference for his transportation services after he dropped him off.
A passerby who heard about the disagreement offered to give the bike rider N200 so he could forget the issue and let peace reign but rather the bike man, Mr Yusuf refused the N200 gesture, insisting that his passenger Musa must be the one to give him his N100.
Based on this, a more heated argument degenerated into a fisticuff. As they continued fighting, Yusuf was said to have hit Musa on the ground several times, inflicting injuries on his body.
Not done, he got an old bottle from the floor, broke it and stabbed him in the neck before he was learnt to bleed profusely.
In the melee, Yusuf took to his heels but was apprehended by people and then handed over to Policemen at AIT Alagbado Police station.
A good samaritan assisted the injured victim to G&T hospital where the doctor on duty tried to save his life but he eventually died having lost so much blood.
However, the remains of Musa has been deposited in a morgue while the culprit, Yusuf Ogunmefun is at the AIT Alagbado Police station for interrogation.
