NACEST COMMITMENT TO PROFESSIONAL TRAINING, MORAL DEVELOPMENT RECEIVES COMMENDATION FROM BENUE STATE EDUCATION COMMISSIONER

…HOLDS 20TH MATRICULATION CEREMONY

The Benue State Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Reverend Dr Frederick Ikyaan has commended the Acting Rector, Nigerian Army College of Environmental Sciences and Technology (NACEST), Makurdi for his dedication towards promoting professionalism and moral development of its students.

Reverend Dr Frederick Ikyaan, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the College’s 20th Matriculation ceremony for the 2024/2025 Academic Session on Saturday, May 3, 2025, was held at the College’s Auditorium permanent site in Makurdi, Benue state.

He noted that the College has earned an enviable reputation for producing highly qualified professionals and ethically responsible graduates.

While acknowledging the efforts of the Minister of Education towards promoting educational standard and human capital development in the nation as a whole, he revealed that Benue State government on its part has recently approved the establishment of the faculty of Engineering in Benue State University, University of Agriculture and Technology as well as Technical Colleges across the state. The Commissioner further revealed that the State Ministry of Education will explore ways of collaboration with the NACEST.

Earlier, while delivering the opening remarks, the Acting Rector NACEST Makurdi, Brigadier General Solomon Inuwa congratulated the matriculating students as he reiterates the College’s zero tolerance for indiscipline and examinations malpractices.

He emphasized that NACEST as an institution gives primacy attention to the Affective, Cognitive and Psychomotor domains of learning in moulding its students.

Brigadier General Inuwa delves extensively into the importance of self-discipline as a major factor that spurs goals accomplishment and self-actualization.

The Rector further revealed that all the nine courses presented for the NBTE accreditation were approved while the resource verification granted approval for the commencement of eight new programmes at the HND level.

He, therefore, urged the students to endeavour to abide by the College’s rules and regulations as well as shun all social vices throughout their stay in NACEST and beyond.

Brigadier General Solomon Inuwa extends his profound gratitude and appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede for his consistent support and guidance to the College as evident in the success the College recorded in the recently conducted NBTE Accreditation and Re- accreditation Exercise.

He also extends his gratitude to his predecessor, and now Corps Commander Education, Major General AP Oguntola for his continuous support towards the growth of the College. He also acknowledged the support of the Commandant Nigerian Army Institute of Education Science and Technology ( NAISET) Ilorin for his consistent support.

The event also had in attendance Ter of Makurdi, His Royal Highness, Chief Vincent Aule, Representative of Commander 401 SF Brigade, Colonel FMO Aboiye, The Coordinator, Benue State Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Dr Titus Isah Lemu, The Area Manager Industrial Training Fund Benue State, Dr Mrs Sarah Adanyi, the District Head of North Bank community as well as the Deputy Chairman House Committee on Army Rt Hon David Ogewu represented by Barrister Ogile John, Academic and Non-Academic staff of the College and other invited guests.

Major Yahaya Arama Ibrahim, Assistant Director Army Public Relations, NACEST added that the highpoints of the ceremony included the official swearing-in of the matriculating students.
