The Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), Major General Adewale Collins Adetoba, has officially inaugurated students of the Junior Leadership and Staff Officers Course (JLSOC) 5 of 2026, charging them to approach the course with enthusiasm, courage, and an open mind.

The ceremony took place on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, at the Tukur Yusuf Buratai Hall, NACOLM Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos. Major General Adetoba told the students that the course is designed to enhance professionalism and equip participants with critical skills for effective service and leadership within the Nigerian Army.

He highlighted that NACOLM, established in 2002 to train logisticians, has expanded its mandate to include leadership development for Direct Regular Commissioned Officers. This expansion led to the introduction of the Senior Leadership and Staff Officers Course (SLSOC) and the Junior Leadership and Staff Officers Course (JLSOC) in 2022.

In his inaugural lecture, titled “Ethical Leadership in Military Logistics: Enhancing Operational Support in Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous Environment”, the Commandant emphasized the vital role of logistics in operational success and stressed that ethical leadership and resource management are essential for overcoming challenges in today’s dynamic military environment.

He urged students to foster intellectual dialogue, work collaboratively, and uphold academic integrity, warning against plagiarism. “Future military commanders must imbibe ethical leadership principles and deploy resources effectively to thrive in a complex operational landscape,” he said.

Colonel Ifeanyi Uyanu, Chairman of the JLSOC 5 Inauguration Committee, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the support of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, and commending the Commandant for his insightful lecture. The event was attended by members of sister services, professional bodies, and partners of the College.

According to a statement by Major Innocent Oche Audu, Public Relations Officer of NACOLM, the inauguration highlights the College’s ongoing commitment to producing ethically grounded and highly skilled officers capable of leading effectively in volatile and complex operational environments.
