The 81 Division Nigerian Army held an interdenominational Church Service to mark the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2022.
A Juma’at prayer was also held in all Nigerian Army formations and units on Friday, July 1, 2022.
The General Officer Commanding 81 Division represented by the Commander 9 Brigade, Brigadier General Isang Akpaumontia said the NA as a force has the constitutional mandate to maintain the country’s territorial integrity.
The theme for this year’s NADCEL is “Repositioning the NA in the Joint Operation Environment: A panacea for success in addressing Contemporary Security Challenges.”
Brig Gen Akpaumontia stated that NADCEL is an annual event that was first celebrated on 6th July 1978 which marked the commencement of the country’s 30 -month Civil War to keep Nigeria as one.
According to the Commander, NADCEL is meant to bring to the knowledge of all NA personnel and indeed all Nigerians that the war was an unfortunate tragedy.
He noted that the NA uses the NADCEL Week which terminates on the 6th of July of every year to reflect on its performances in the previous year for more effective operations and performance for the following year.
“This is why the NA has remained resolute to bring the menace of insecurity to a complete halt and restore peace and normalcy to the North as well as other parts of the country,” Brig-Gen Akpaumoutia reiterated.
In attendance at the church service were the Commander 55 Signal Brigade, Brigadier General Ebenezer Oshunsan, Chief of Staff, Headquarters 9 Brigade, Colonel Isidore Amah, Acting Chairperson 81 Div NAOWA, Mrs. Laraba Joyce Onyekwu, and Coordinator 9 Bde NAOWA, Mrs. Ndidi Amaka Akpaumontia.
