A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Ncheta Omerekpe Foundation has begun the 2021 phase of its annual free medical services in the 17 local government areas of Abia State. It is tagged Preventive Blindness Project.
The gesture is in continuation of the several years of such philanthropic gesture with 2021 making it the 15th year. The project is done in conjunction conjunction with DR. MARGRET TEENS FOUNDATION and in partnership with BOONDALL LIONS CLUB INC. AUSTRALIA.
According to a statement by the Foundation’s Director of Media & Publicity, Prince Clinton Uba on Tuesday, ten thousand eye glasses will be distributed during the exercise.
“The outreach will also include free Diabetes screening, High Blood Pressure Screening and General Health Talk on Healthy Living just as
the exercise is to be carried out for seven working days in each Local Government Area starting in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area on Wednesday, 3rd March, 2021.”
As at the time of filing this report, it was gathered that the programme has just been flagged off at UMUEROGHA CIVIC HALL IN UMUAKWU NSULU, beginning from 9am to 4pm daily.
The Foundation’s spokesman has advised all indigenes of Nsulu clan who need the eye services to take advantage of the golden opportunity by visiting the venue.
“The other Local Government Areas will be announced as the programme progresses” the statement added.
