The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has deployed an emergency response team to Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following a bandit attack that displaced residents and left many in urgent need of humanitarian support.

Acting on the directive of the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, the team from the Agency’s Minna Operations Office—which has oversight responsibility for Kwara State—has temporarily relocated to the affected communities to conduct an on-the-ground assessment and coordinate immediate intervention efforts.

The damage and needs assessment is being carried out in collaboration with the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and relevant security agencies to determine the extent of destruction, humanitarian requirements, and appropriate response measures.

NEMA has also pre-positioned relief materials, including food and non-food items, to provide immediate assistance to victims of the attack, pending the outcome of the ongoing assessment.

Mrs. Umar expressed deep sympathy with the affected communities and the Kwara State Government over the incident, assuring them of the Federal Government’s continued support through NEMA to alleviate suffering and restore normalcy.

She reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to timely humanitarian response, effective coordination, and sustained support aimed at mitigating the impact of violent attacks on vulnerable populations.
