The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, has been honoured with the Excellence in Emergency Response and Humanitarian Services Award at the 2025 National Excellence Award in Public Service (NEAPS).
The award was presented on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, during the ceremony held on Sunday at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Mrs. Umar was recognised alongside several high-profile public officials, including the Governors of Bauchi, Zamfara, Kano and Adamawa states, as well as the Ministers of Aviation and Women Affairs, among others.
President Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, congratulated the recipients and urged them to sustain the high standards that earned them national recognition.
Founder of the NEAPS initiative, Hajiya Mariam C. Mohammed, said the awardees emerged after a rigorous selection process based on their demonstrated excellence, leadership and commitment to quality public service delivery.

The annual awards are organised by The Best Strategic Media (TBS) in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Reacting to the honour, Mrs. Umar expressed gratitude to the President and the organisers, describing the recognition as an encouragement to further strengthen national emergency preparedness, humanitarian intervention and public safety efforts across the country.
The award underscores the strides recorded by NEMA under her leadership, particularly in enhancing early warning systems, improving emergency response mechanisms, and deepening collaboration among stakeholders in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
