The Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Legion has put smiles on the faces of wives and children of late members of the Armed forces as they received empowerment packages of various forms during the weekend in Lagos.
The event held at the Legion office Hall, at Arena Bolade, Oshodi-Lagos. It was attended by the Commissioner, Ministry of Home Affairs, Lagos State, Prince Nofiu Elegushi, and other top officials of the ministry.
Items given include grinding machines, full salon equipment, popcorn machines, gas cookers, and many other things.
The Chairman of Nigerian Legion Lagos State Command, Colonel Samuel Akande (retd) thanked the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo -Olu for approving the fund used in the empowerment programme for the widows and family members of late military personnel who lost their lives while protecting the nation.
In a goodwill message from the Governor, read by the Commissioner Ministry of Home Affairs, Prince Elegushi appreciated the Armed Forces and other Security agencies for ensuring adequate security across the country.
He advised the beneficiaries of the empowerment to utilize all the equipment given to them and promised that the State government would continue to support the families of late Military heroes.
The majority of the beneficiary who spoke to our Correspondent thanked the Governor for the gesture and urged him to sustain the yearly event.
