NIGERIA POLICE ACADEMY CONCLUDES 1

The 2025 edition of the Strategic Lecture Series at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, came to a remarkable close on Thursday, October 2, 2025, with the visit of the Academy’s 20th Commandant, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Zannah M. Ibrahim, psc, mni. His presence provided a deeply inspirational finale for the Academy’s cadets.

DIG Zannah, who was warmly received by the current 24th Commandant, Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Patrick A. Atayero, MSc (UK), MBA (USA), psc, delivered an insightful lecture and a heartfelt poem that resonated strongly with the cadets. His address centered on the pillars of modern policing — professionalism, integrity, transparency, the role of information and communication technology (ICT), and the impact of globalization — urging cadets to embody these values as future leaders of the Nigeria Police Force.

As the Commandant who appointed the cadets of Regular Course 7 into the Nigeria Police Force, DIG Zannah’s return to the Academy was especially symbolic. More than a homecoming, it marked the return of a respected law enforcement leader celebrated for his strategic acumen, operational excellence, and dedication to reforming police education and administration.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, DSP Musa Isah Umar, the retired DIG was accompanied by his former Deputy Commandant, AIG Lawal Bagega (Rtd), another distinguished senior officer known for his professionalism and contributions to the Academy’s development.

Following his lecture, DIG Zannah posed for a group photograph with the cadets and charged them to uphold the values of the Academy and the Nigeria Police Force with pride and honour. The cadets, in turn, expressed admiration for his enduring legacy and appreciation for the current Commandant’s leadership and commitment to continuous improvement.

In his remarks, the 24th Commandant, AIG Patrick A. Atayero, reaffirmed the Academy’s dedication to discipline, professionalism, and national service. He extended his profound gratitude to the 22nd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his visionary leadership and for providing the platform to engage distinguished senior police officers whose experiences continue to enrich police training and operations nationwide.

AIG Atayero also commended both serving and retired senior officers who contributed to the success of the lecture series, acknowledging their invaluable insights and ongoing support toward the growth and excellence of the Academy. He reiterated that the Nigeria Police Academy remains steadfast in its mission to produce officers who embody integrity, competence, and selfless service to the nation.
