In a significant step at bolstering security and operational efficiency, the Assistant Controller General (ACG), Nigeria Correctional Services (NCS), Zone A Command, ACG Opeyemi Fatiniku, has sought the assistance and collaboration of 81 Division Nigerian Army (NA).
ACG Fatiniku made the request during a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division NA, Maj Gen Farouk Umar Mijinyawa at Headquarters 81 Division NA, Kofo Abayomi, Lagos.
ACG Fatiniku expressed gratitude for the ongoing support by the NA, especially 81 Division NA in particular for ensuring the security of correctional facilities across Lagos and Ogun states. He thanked the GOC for his interventions and support at all times.
The ACG emphasized the critical need for a strengthened partnership for the safety of correctional facilities and the successful reformation of inmates. He further stated that the collaboration will also enhance intelligence gathering and sharing as well as create a more secure environment for both staff and inmates.
The GOC, 81 Division NA, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, while giving his remarks, assured the ACG of the Division’s continuous support. The GOC also highlighted that troops deployed at Correctional Centres in the Division’s Area of Responsibility are always prepared to address any unforeseen circumstances.
He commended the ACG and his team for the proactive approach and welcomed the opportunity for continued collaboration.

In a related development, the Nigerian Breweries (NB) has sought to strengthen ties with 81 Division NA.
The request was made when the Brewery Manager, Mr. Nduka Nnabuihe and his team paid a courtesy visit to the GOC. Mr. Nnabuihe stated that the visit was to enhance security and collaboration aimed to foster a safer and more secure environment for both employees and stakeholders of NB.
The GOC, in his response, thanked the management of the NB Lagos Branch for maintaining good collaboration with the Division and also supporting its activities.
The highlights of the visits include the signing of the visitor’s book, the exchange of commemorative plaques, and group photographs.
