It was a moment of joy and fulfillment as the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, Barr (Mrs) Hellen Akpaumontia, the wife of Brigadier General Isangubong Akpaumontia of the Nigerian Army and 148 other prominent Nigerians were conferred with the prestigious Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) fellowship.
The induction took place at the Shell Hall, Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos State on the 22nd August, during the 2024 Awards, Fellows, Spouses’ Day Luncheon of the prestigious Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) with the theme: “Integrating Sustainability Into Strategic Decision-Making”.
In his remarks, the President and Chairman of Council, Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), Christiana Atako, noted that the annual fellows and spouses’ day luncheon is a ceremony where qualified and deserving members are conferred the highest and most prestigious professional membership grade of the NIM.
Adding that the process of upgrading members to Fellow cadre started in February 1963 when the first three Fellows of the Institute were elected and inducted, noted that fellowship upgrade is not an end in itself but rather a call to higher responsibility and service to the Institute, the management profession and the nation.
Among the recipients of the awards was Barrister (Mrs.) Ndidiamaka Hellen Akpaumontia, who has now been inducted as a Fellow, Nigeria Institute of Management (Chartered).
Ndidiamaka Hellen Akpaumontia, a lawyer with Harries Law Partners, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the University of Uyo.
On graduation, she proceeded to attend the Nigerian Law School. She also holds a certificate on Dispute Resolution from Center for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) England.
Born into the family of Mr.&Mrs. Nwanchukwu Okorie from Nkanu East local government area in Enugu State, Nigeria, Barr Akpaumontia is a seasoned Legal Practitioner and Accredited mediator.
With vast experience in the legal profession, she has worked with different legal professional bodies and also held various appointments.
At the moment, she is a member of several professional bodies which include: the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), NBA Women Forum, International Federation of Female Lawyers (FIDA), and a fellow with ICMC.
Other membership are Fellow Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
As a philanthropist imbued with the humanitarian gesture, she runs Sangdid Foundation, a humanitarian organization that carters for widows and children’s total well-being.
Barr. Ndidiamaka Hellen Akpaumontia is married to Brigadier General Isangubong Akpaumontia of the Nigerian Army and they are blessed with four children.
Present at the induction ceremony were the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Farouk Umar Mijinyawa; Dr Umar Mustapha, Chairman, Board of Fellows; Mrs Hafsatu Abdu-Gusau, Business Advisor to the CFO, NNPC and other eminent dignitaries from all walks of life.
