NITDA BOSS URGES STRONGER CIVIL SOCIETY

The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has called for closer collaboration between government institutions and civil society organisations to shape Nigeria’s future.

Speaking at the maiden Civil Society Summit on Civil Democracy and National Development, Inuwa emphasised that inclusive governance and shared responsibility are vital to achieving sustainable national progress.

He underscored the core pillars of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which include:

  • Reforming the economy for inclusive growth,
  • Strengthening national security,
  • Boosting agriculture to ensure food security,
  • Unlocking energy and natural resources for sustainable development,
  • Enhancing infrastructure and transportation,
  • Prioritising education, health, and social investment,

Accelerating diversification through industrialisation, digitisation, manufacturing, creative arts, and innovation, and

Improving governance for effective service delivery.

Inuwa urged civil society groups to play a more active role, not only by holding government accountable but also by contributing meaningfully to policy design and execution. According to him, open dialogue, mutual trust, and collaboration are key ingredients for national development.

The summit provided a platform to promote democratic values, strengthen civic engagement, and reaffirm the vital role of civil society in Nigeria’s developmental journey.
