NITDA DG BACKS LAUNCH OF MTN CLOUD

The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, on Thursday joined the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, alongside industry stakeholders, for the official launch of MTN Nigeria’s Cloud Service and Tier III Data Centre in Lagos.

n his goodwill message, Inuwa hailed the project as a strategic milestone in advancing Nigeria’s digital transformation, describing it as a boost to the country’s digital infrastructure and a driver of local technology solutions.

He emphasised that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly the push for economic diversification through industrialisation, digitisation, creative arts, manufacturing, and innovation.

According to him, the project also reinforces Nigeria’s “Nigeria First” policy by empowering local providers, accelerating cloud adoption, and promoting AI-driven innovation.

The launch ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, and the CEO of MTN Nigeria, Karl Toriola.
