
The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, has reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to building a secure and sustainable digital economy. He made this known in Abuja while delivering the opening remarks at the 19th International Conference (CONNOVATE 2025) of the Nigeria Computer Society, represented by Engr. Salisu Kaka, Director of the e-Government and Digital Economy Department.
Themed “Intelligent, Secure, and Sustainable Innovations for a Connected World,” the conference explored pathways to leveraging technology for inclusive growth. Inuwa highlighted the strategic initiatives of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy and its agencies, citing the establishment of the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR), the Computer Emergency Readiness and Response Team (CERRT), and NITDA’s pivotal role in driving the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 as milestones in strengthening the nation’s digital landscape.
He further outlined efforts toward developing Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), which will provide a unified national identity, seamless interoperable payment systems, and efficient data exchange to enhance inclusive and secure service delivery.
Underscoring the importance of human capital development, the DG reaffirmed NITDA’s commitment to programmes such as the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative and Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL), designed to equip Nigerians with critical digital skills in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
