The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has led Nigeria’s delegation to the WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland, where strategic engagements were held to strengthen the country’s digital transformation drive.
During a meeting at the United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC), discussions focused on leveraging UNICC’s advanced computing infrastructure and expertise to accelerate Nigeria’s digital growth. Key priorities identified include the establishment of an AI Hub, AI Sandbox, and AI Academy, boosting cybersecurity resilience, and promoting the adoption of AI-powered solutions.
In a separate session with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Inuwa explored a joint research initiative aligned with NITDA’s Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0), covering six emerging technology domains critical to Nigeria’s digital future.
These engagements, Inuwa noted, are consistent with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises economic diversification through industrialisation, innovation, and digitisation.
The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) remains one of the most significant global platforms advancing inclusive, people-centered digital development through multistakeholder cooperation.
