Lagos — Nigeria is ready to take the lead in shaping the future economy, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, declared yesterday at #GITEXNigeria in Lagos.

Inuwa traced the journey of the event back to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s attendance at GITEX Africa in Marrakech, where he challenged stakeholders to bring the global tech showcase to Lagos. “Today, that vision has become a reality,” he said.

He described Lagos as the capital of Africa’s tech ecosystem and a “factory of unicorns,” having produced five of the continent’s most valuable startups. This success, he noted, stems from deliberate government policies, resilience, and the innovation of young Nigerian talents.

While acknowledging FinTech as the “rocket fuel” of Nigeria’s innovation story, Inuwa stressed that the country’s opportunities cut across agriculture, healthcare, security, and other vital sectors.

“With bold ambition, strategic collaboration, and the boundless energy of Nigerian innovators, Nigeria is positioned to compete globally and provide solutions with real social and economic impact,” he said.

He urged investors, partners, and innovators worldwide to join Nigeria’s journey of building a future economy grounded in inclusivity, diversification, and resilience.
