The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has highlighted the transformative power of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping Nigeria’s digital future at Huawei Day Nigeria 2025, held at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos.
The event, themed “Accelerate Industrial Intelligence,” featured the official unveiling of the Huawei Nigeria Innovation Centre, a landmark facility designed to deepen technological advancement and foster digital innovation in the country.
Delivering his keynote address, Abdullahi described the dawn of a new era of “cool intelligence”—a synergy between humans and intelligent systems. He noted that AI and internet-driven technologies can now efficiently perform over 50% of existing work activities, making it imperative for industries and individuals to adapt.
“To unlock the potential of this generation and the future of work, we must always invite AI to the table,” he urged. “AI today holds vast knowledge and can empower us if we engage it wisely.”
The NITDA DG particularly encouraged Nigerian youth, especially Gen Zs, to embrace AI principles as critical tools for innovation and productivity in the 21st-century economy.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Femi Hamzat and Dr. Peter Zhou, President of Huawei’s Data Storage Product Line, alongside other industry leaders. Together with Abdullahi, they unveiled the Huawei Innovation Centre and embarked on a guided tour of its cutting-edge technological facilities.
During the tour, Abdullahi engaged with AI solutions on display, underscoring how intelligent technologies are reshaping industries, enhancing efficiency, and positioning Nigeria for leadership in the global digital economy.
