The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in partnership with the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), has hosted a workshop to accelerate the implementation of the Digital Literacy Action Plan for federal civil servants.
Held at the OHCSF headquarters, the event marked a key step in Nigeria’s digital transformation drive and efforts to build a digitally empowered workforce in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of improving governance for effective service delivery.
Representing NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the Acting Director of Digital Literacy and Capacity Building, Dr. Ahmad Yusuf Tambuwal, highlighted progress under the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) programme. He outlined the provisions of the training and certification initiative, stressing its goal of equipping civil servants with essential digital skills to enhance productivity and efficiency across government institutions.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, OHCSF, Mrs. Fatima Sugra Mahmood—representing the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack—urged civil servants to embrace a citizen-centric approach to governance. She called on participants to fully engage with the training and leverage digital tools to help achieve a paperless ecosystem by year-end, thereby improving service delivery.
The workshop featured onboarding sessions and hands-on training with digital tools, reinforcing NITDA’s commitment to fostering a digitally inclusive workforce. Officials noted that the initiative is a vital step toward creating a technologically advanced, citizen-focused public service that drives Nigeria’s broader digital economy agenda.
