The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has reiterated its commitment to equipping Nigeria’s civil servants with the digital skills required to drive innovation and improve governance in the country’s public sector.
Speaking at the maiden edition of the International Civil Service Conference 2025 in Abuja, the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, ably represented by Dr. Ahmed Tambawal, Acting Director of the Digital Literacy and Capacity Building Department, highlighted the agency’s ongoing programmes and strategic collaborations tailored towards building a digitally savvy workforce.
Themed “Rejuvenate, Innovate & Accelerate!”, the conference was organised by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and brought together key public sector stakeholders to deliberate on reforms, innovations, and capacity development initiatives needed to reposition the Nigerian civil service for the future.
Dr. Tambawal featured as a panelist in the high-level session titled “Digital Transformation: Digital Skills for Civil Servants – Capacity Gaps and Future Readiness.” He underscored NITDA’s role in driving digital literacy, capacity building, and innovation within the civil service, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of enhancing governance and effective service delivery.
“NITDA remains committed to fostering a culture of innovation in the public sector, ensuring civil servants are adequately prepared to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven work environment,” Dr. Tambawal said.
The conference marked a strategic milestone in Nigeria’s efforts to reposition its civil service, setting the stage for digital transformation as a catalyst for national development.
