In a renewed effort to ensure transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public sector technology projects, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has presented the Reviewed IT Project Clearance Guideline Document to the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) and the Office of the Auditor General for the Federation (OAuGF) for their inputs.
The twin visits, led by NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, form part of the Agency’s mandate as the clearing house for all government IT projects, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of enhancing governance and improving service delivery.
Speaking at the meetings, Inuwa underscored the need for collaboration across government institutions to ensure that IT projects are not executed in isolation, but rather aligned to national priorities and designed to serve the greater good.
“The Reviewed IT Project Clearance Guideline is not just about compliance; it is about driving sustainable progress, ensuring value for money, and avoiding corruption and duplication in government IT projects,” Inuwa said.
At the Bureau of Public Procurement, the Director General, Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, welcomed the initiative and stressed the importance of standardising IT project bidding documents, pledging BPP’s readiness to collaborate with NITDA.
During the subsequent engagement, the Auditor General of the Federation, Shaakaa Kanyitor Chira, commended NITDA’s foresight and assured that his office would conduct performance audits once the guidelines become operational. He noted that this would help evaluate whether the policy contributes meaningfully to national development.
The Reviewed Guideline Document is expected to serve as a framework for accountability, efficiency, and innovation in Nigeria’s public sector IT ecosystem.
