NITDA WRAPS UP FREE HOLIDAY CODING BOOTCAMP FOR CHILDREN IN KANO

NITDA WRAPS UP FREE HOLIDAY CODING

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has successfully concluded its Free Long Vacation Coding Bootcamp for children at the agency’s North-West Zonal Office in Amana City, Kano State.

The programme, which ran throughout the school holiday, introduced children aged 8 to 12 to basic coding skills using Scratch and Blockly. Participants also explored game building, story animation, and logical problem-solving exercises, all aimed at sparking creativity and nurturing early digital literacy.

Representing the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the North-West Zonal Coordinator, Engr. Muhammad Kabiru, delivered the DG’s remarks. He emphasised that every child deserves access to modern technology, not just as users but as creators.

According to him, the initiative reflects NITDA’s commitment to the National Digital Literacy Framework (2023) and contributes to Nigeria’s ambitious goal of attaining 95% digital literacy by 2030 through programmes such as Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL).

Parents and community members lauded the free initiative for keeping children positively engaged during the break and equipping them with future-ready skills. NITDA assured that the young learners will continue to benefit from mentorship and follow-up training to help them grow into confident contributors to Nigeria’s digital economy.
