A criminal hideout identified as Gidan Drama, located at Agbo Malu, in the heart of Apapa, has been raided by the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT.

Disclosing this in Lagos, the Base Information Officer, NNS BEECROFT, Lieutenant Hussaini Ibrahim said that the raid was carried out on Saturday, 24th January, 2026 by personnel of NNS BEECROFT following credible intelligence received by the Base on the presence of suspected drug peddlers in Gidan Drama.

During the hand over, the Commander NNS BEECROFT, Rear Admiral Paul Ponfa Nimmyel, who was represented by the Executive Officer, Captain Idongesit Udoessien disclosed that several illicit substances such as cannabis sativa, codeine and other banned substances were recovered.

However, he noted that no arrest was made as the suspected drugs peddlers fled upon sighting the team.

Captain Udoessien added that the recovery of the illicit substances underscores the unwavering commitment of NNS BEECROFT to curtailing spread and use of illicit drugs among teaming youth which negatively affect their health and threaten national security.

“The success of this operation is a testament to the unrelenting efforts of NNS BEECROFT to enforce the mandate of Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, Admiralty Medal, to rid the Nigeria’s maritime environment of all forms of crime and criminality either singly or in collaboration with other security and law enforcement agencies’’.

Accordingly, “the recovered illicit substances were handed over to the Assistant Commander of Narcotics, Azu Charles of Festac Area Command, National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) today, Monday 2nd February, 2026, for further necessary action.
