The Federal Road Safety Corps Lagos on Thursday confirmed the death of one Male adult and several others seriously injured in a multiple road crash that occurred on Kara Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan in the early hours of Thursday, February 9, 2023.
Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi FRSC Public Education Officer confirmed that seven vehicles were involved in the accident as a result of a break failure by the white Mack truck.
They include a Gold Toyota Sienna Bus, with Registration number: RSH 492 XE; a Custom Toyota Camry car, Registration number: MUS 479 HE; a White Toyota Hiace Bus, with Registration number: FGG 685 XV; a Black Lexus SUV, Registration number: FST 907 HK, White Lexus SUV; Registration number: FST 904 HK; Unknown Black Toyota Land Cruiser and unknown White Mack Truck.
RC Sonusi explained that “As at the time of reporting this crash, one male adult has been confirmed dead and was taken by the Kara Hausa community for burial according to Islamic rites while the injured persons were taken to Accident and Emergency Ojota.”
At the moment, FRSC operatives in conjunction with men of Nigeria Police and TRACE operatives have cleared the obstructions off the road while FRSC personnel had to stay on ground to manage the backlog of traffic caused.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the bereaved and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
He, however, said the Corps will continue to ensure that minimum safety standards are maintained by articulated vehicles, while the cause of the crash will be thoroughly investigated for further action.
