In a positive move to upgrade facilities and make the study environment conducive teaching and learning, the President of the Nigerian Navy Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA), Mrs Aisha Abbas has inaugurated modest facilities at the Navy Town, Ojo Lagos.
Commissioning the projects, she noted that quality education remains the bedrock, and a passport to a comfortable living. Therefore, she further explained, it “serves as a stabilizing force for children navigating change.”
In the brief ceremony held at the hall of the Nigerian Navy Officers Wives Association Secondary School (NOWASS), today, Friday, 13th February, 2026, Mrs Abbas dedicated the four classrooms consisting of 150 seats and remodelled Music Laboratory, conveniences for both students and staff, to God and for the benefit of the intellectual development of the students.

She reiterates that the newly commissioned classrooms and fully equipped music laboratory are designed to cultivate creativity, critical thinking and excellence, ensuring that students remain competitive and confident wherever service life may take them.
Acknowledging that education is significant in their overall development of the children, reiterated that the project was spearheaded by NOWA National President and Wife of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Mrs. Aisha Abass.
Quoting Malcolm X, she observed that “Education is the passport to the future for those who prepare for it today.”

In his welcome remarks, the Commandant of the School, Commander Baba Inusa, who was full of excitement, described the newly completed facilities as more than infrastructural additions; but they represent a strategic investment in creating a conducive environment for intellectual growth and creativity.
He expressed appreciation to the Wife of the Chief of the Naval Staff, and NOWA for positioning the school as a model of academic excellence.
Cmdr Inusa also commended the collective effort and hard work of the staffs that brought the project to fruition. With the upgraded facilities, he affirmed the school’s readiness to nurture emerging successes in the years ahead.
A drama presentation by students NAPTIP focussed on Child Abuse and other related offences. The compelling message sounded a note of warming to some couples, who have cultivated the habit of ill-treating their house help.

They called on such individuals to desist from it or face the full wrath of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
The Vote of Thanks rendered by the Head Girl, NOWASS, Miss PC Okoro thanked NOWA President for her ingenuity and facilitating the construction and equipment of the new classrooms and music laboratory, which she added, would nurture God-fearing students and leaders.
The well attended ceremony by the Principal, Vice Principal and the members, Parent-Teachers Association of the school, NOWA national executives, senior officers, members of the education committee, school administrators, staff and students, lay credence to the importance attached to education and human capacity development of the young lads.
