The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is collaborating with the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), to beef up security around custodial centres in Anambra state.
To harmonise this arrangement, Mr. Isidore C. Chikere, the State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State on 2nd August 2022, visited the Comptroller of Corrections, Anambra State Command, Pat Chukwuemeka, at his office in Awka in continuation of his familiarizing visit to security agencies in Anambra state.
The Commandant stated that the purpose of his visit was to familiarize himself with NCoS and to strengthen the existing working relationship between the two Services in order to improve internal security in the state.
Appreciating the Comptroller of Corrections for the warm reception accorded him, Mr Chikere pledged his unflinching support in intelligence sharing and the provision of operational support.
“My purpose of coming here today is to introduce myself to you and seek areas we can collaborate towards improving the security of the State.
“Already, we have an existing working relationship but my visit is to solidify and maintain the tempo. Be assured of my continuous intervention and support as much as possible in our efforts aimed at improving security challenges confronting us in the State”, he said.
Responding, Mr. Pat. Chukwuemeka, the Comptroller of Corrections, thanked the NSCDC state Commandant for the visit and emphasized the need for the two Services to collaborate more in the smooth operation of an efficient justice system.
“I have enjoyed a cordial working relationship with NSCDC. We shall do everything possible to support ourselves and collaborate with you in achieving our goal as it concerns beefing up security around custodial centres across the State,” he said.
