The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State has assured the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) of increased collaboration in its vigorous corruption-fighting efforts.
Commandant Maku Olatunde, the NSCDC Anambra State Command boss, stated this on Thursday, April 10, 2025, when the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner (RACC) Anambra State, Mr. Maknath Osi led a delegation of his management team on a familiarization visit to the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Awka.
Welcoming the visitors, the NSCDC State Helmsman expressed concern that corruption poses a serious threat to national security, undermining the nation’s stability, prosperity, and sovereignty.
He assured that the NSCDC, as a reputable paramilitary agency of the Federal Government, is committed to providing the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) with the necessary support to fulfill its mandate.
In a statement by the Head Media and Tactical, NSCDC Anambra State Command, SC Okadigbo Edwin, the Commandant stressed that a shift in mindset among citizens is crucial for creating a better society, emphasizing the importance of embracing and upholding core values of ethics and integrity. Corruption, he noted, has significantly impacted many Nigerians, depriving them of benefits they should have enjoyed.

Maku mentioned that the Corps is equipped with a specialized unit called the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) established to promote ethics, detect corruption, and foster collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in making sure that public resources are utilized effectively and for their intended purposes.
Earlier, the Anambra State Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Mr. Maknath Osi, urged the NSCDC to strengthen their existing partnership with the ICPC through enhanced intelligence sharing and operational support to combat corruption and related crimes in Nigeria.
“My visit today is to resolidify an existing relationship between us. The NSCDC has been a good partner in our constitutional role of fighting against corruption.”
“Let us form a strong bond, especially in terms of operational support, strategic information sharing, intelligence gathering, vetting and surveillance,” he said.
