Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Mining Marshals have uncovered and shut down an illegal mining operation in Uke Community, Karu LGA of Nasarawa State.
Acting on credible intelligence following a petition by a licensed operator, A.A. Kurna Global Mines Ltd, the team stormed the site and arrested 15 suspects engaged in unlawful mining activities.
Preliminary investigations show that 11 of the suspects were directly involved in the illegal operations, while others provided support services, including transportation and construction work at the site.
It has been confirmed that four of the suspects are foreign nationals. Their immigration status is being verified as part of ongoing investigation activities.

The NSCDC have reiterated its commitment to protecting Nigeria’s mineral resources and ensuring that all mining activities comply with the law.
The Commander of the Mining Marshals, ACC John Onoja Attah affirmed that the stands of ensuring legitimate mineral title holders have access to their mining site remains non-negotiable regardless of whose ox may be gored.
