The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command in a proactive move has significantly intensified its deployment to boost economic activities, protect Critical National, State, and Local Government Assets and Infrastructure, focusing on banks, financial institutions, parks, schools, government offices, and potential vulnerable points to maintain public trust and respond to security breaches.
This was contained in a statement by the Head of Media and Tactical Ops, SC Okadigbo Edwin, on Monday, July 8, 2024, in Awka.
According to him, the State Commandant of NSCDC Anambra State Command, Comdt. Maku Olatunde, while monitoring the deployment of personnel for the renewed launch operations said the exercise aims to boost economic activities and prevent miscreants, criminals, vagrants, vandals, hooligans, unruly individuals, and economic saboteurs from attacking lawful residents of the state, particularly on Mondays.
Comdt. Maku emphasized the need for all personnel participating in the exercise to conduct themselves professionally and courteously in enforcing civil order while following established Rules of Engagement and standing operational procedures.
“This deployment is to ensure the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, in Anambra State including, banks, markets, parks, recreational centers, schools, government offices, and other strategic locations.”
“You must be vigilant and alert in the discharge of your duties, be professional, courteous, and responsive to the needs of the public,” he said.
The NSCDC State helmsman urged law-abiding residents of the state to go about their lawful businesses without any form of fear or intimidation as the command in synergy with other security agencies has emplaced security measures to evade any threat of attack by any insurgent group.
Comdt. Maku warned those intending to destabilize the relative peace in the state to rethink as anyone caught in the act will face the consequences.
