The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has called on Nigerians to back their renewed hopes for 2026 with a zero-tolerance approach to economic and financial crimes and other forms of corruption.
Olukoyede made the call in Abuja on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, in his New Year message to the nation, urging citizens to translate the optimism of the season into a stronger commitment to accountability and ethical conduct.
According to him, while the excitement and euphoria that accompany the new year are welcome, they should also serve as a wake-up call for Nigerians to deepen their resolve to act responsibly to build a nation that is both enviable and sustainably great.
“As we welcome the new year with excitement and renewed hopes, let us renew our commitment and channel our energy to the paths of accountability and zero tolerance for corruption,” he said.
In a statement by the Head, Media and Publicity of EFCC, Dele Oyewale, the EFCC chairman expressed optimism that Nigeria would overcome the challenges of poverty and deprivation, stressing that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is anchored on national rebirth and sustainable development.
“We can make Nigeria greater. This is the pivot of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President. Nigeria will rise again,” Olukoyede said.
He concluded by wishing Nigerians a happy, peaceful and more fulfilling 2026, while reaffirming the EFCC’s resolve to intensify the fight against corruption in the new year.
