The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) has deepened collaboration with international humanitarian partners to ensure security, peace, and economic stability in Borno State.
On Tuesday, OPHK hosted high-level delegations from the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UN DSS) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), highlighting the critical role of civil–military cooperation in facilitating humanitarian access to vulnerable communities.
Leading the UN DSS delegation was Mrs. Florence Paussin, Deputy Director, Department of Field Operations, who commended OPHK for its professionalism and dedication to safeguarding civilians and humanitarian workers. She emphasized the need for secure escorts to deliver aid safely to hard-to-reach areas and reaffirmed UN DSS’ commitment to supporting OPHK’s operations.

In response, Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, highlighted OPHK’s integrated approach, balancing kinetic and non-kinetic operations while ensuring humanitarian support remains a priority. He assured the UN DSS of sustained security assistance across the region.
Similarly, Mr. Yanich Buvhili, Head of Operations, ICRC, led a delegation to OPHK, advocating continued collaboration for safe delivery of medical and humanitarian services, including family reunification, healthcare, immunization, and nutrition programs. He praised the Force for facilitating ICRC operations and stressed the importance of strengthening coordination to overcome operational challenges.

Major General Abubakar described ICRC as a “dependable partner” and reaffirmed OPHK’s commitment to support humanitarian efforts, noting that improved security conditions have significantly enhanced access to affected communities.
The engagements featured the signing of visitors’ registers, presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs. Present were Deputy Theatre Commander, Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, along with senior staff officers and personnel of OPHK.

The visit underscores the growing partnership between military and humanitarian agencies, reinforcing OPHK’s mission to ensure stability, protect civilians, and support regional development across the North East.
