The Anambra State Police Command has recorded a major boost in personnel advancement following the promotion and decoration of over 300 officers to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the decoration ceremony was held at the Command Headquarters in Awka on February 20, 2026, and was presided over by the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu.

While decorating the newly promoted officers, Orutugu described the elevation as merit-based and well-deserved, congratulating them and urging them to rededicate themselves to professionalism, discipline and quality service to the people of Anambra State.
He emphasised that promotion comes with greater responsibility, charging the officers to uphold the core values of the Force, maintain integrity and sustain public trust in the discharge of their duties. The CP reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to boosting morale and enhancing operational efficiency through recognition of hard work, dedication and excellence.

Speaking on behalf of the newly decorated officers, ASP Eyam Osim expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 13, the Commissioner of Police, the Command’s Management Team and the Police Service Commission for finding them worthy of the promotion.
The event drew attendance from senior police officers, family members and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the milestone.
The large-scale promotion reflects ongoing reforms and career development initiatives within the Nigeria Police Force aimed at strengthening capacity, motivating personnel and improving service delivery nationwide.
