The Oyo State House of Assembly, on Monday, impeached the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan.
Olaniyan was removed by all the 23 PDP lawmakers in the House during plenary at 11:30 am. The House Speaker announced that the sack was with immediate effect.
Our Correspondent gather that after the impeachment, the House rose to adjourn sitting to reconvene at 12noon today.
The reason for his removal from office was the alleged recommendations of the panel investigating the Deputy Governor.
PEOPLE AND POWER gathered that his sack was alleged misconduct and a series of allegations leveled against him.
At the plenary, it was learned that the House reached a Consensus decision after the presentation and consideration of the recommendation of the seven-man panel set up by the Chief Judge, Munta Abimbola.
Justice Abimbola was asked to investigate the Deputy Governor over allegations of “gross misconduct.”
According to the report of the committee presented during Monday plenary, the Deputy Governor was found guilty of all the allegations leveled against him by the seven-man panel.
Recalled that the Deputy Governor, was voted into power in 2019 on a joint ticket with incumbent Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and recently defected to the opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
